Toby's Super Awesome Guide to many Werewolf Things

0-9

4th Spatial Dimension- This is a dimension has an added vector in Euclidean space. One theory is that Werewolves and other shapeshifters and their forms are merely projections and a transformation is simply a rotation in the fourth dimension.

A

Alpha-(α) The Executive leader of the Clan and overseer of the entire territory. The selection of an Alpha is done by popular vote there is also an interim alpha which are the runner up. Interim Alphas only serve until a new Election is held. Any werewolf can apply to be an Alpha. At the age of 6, Toby was the youngest to be elected and the interim served the position until Toby would be able to perform his duty. The implied criteria for an Alpha is abnormal strength, cunning, strict morals, bravery, compassion, and intelligence, but this interpretation of the criteria is entirely up to the voter.
Angrboða- Is a Giantess in Nordic mythology who is said to give birth it the first werewolf—Fenrir. Her attributes brought werewolves their immense size and strength but also their voracious appetites. She also gave birth to the first Naga—Jörmungandr, and the Queen of the underworld—Hel.
Anthro- A Greek based word meaning Human-like. This is the 2nd form werewolves may take. The physical characteristics that the 2nd form differs from the 1st are: Longer nails, protruding teeth, yellow or golden eyes, Taller, more muscle, pointed ears, longer hair, raspy voice, fur more noticeable, and nose is slightly distended and disfigured. Similarities between 1st and 2nd forms are that they are bipedal and atavism occurs in their coccyx, but seldom is the growth enough to surface. Anthro is the most common form a werewolf may take because it is balanced and easy to manage.

B

Bestiality- A human that is romantically involved with a non-human. Many werewolf hunters believe werewolves are animals, so hunters will kill humans who have relationships with a werewolf. Hunters believe this group of humans to be impure because they have a bestial relationship. On the contrary to the hunters' belief, werewolves are the same species as humans as they both can bear legitimate offspring with one another. Werewolves cannot however breed with wolves, and this is an often misconceptualized thesis that they can.
Beta-(ß) A keeper of a faction of the territory and representative of the population within the faction. If the Alpha has been accused to have abused his or her power, then the Betas are to decide if the Alpha did in fact abuse power, which implies the Alpha is stripped of his rank. After a conviction the Grand Elder usually assumes power until an official election can be set. If a Beta dies then the Alpha can appoint a Beta only if they live in the faction in question.
Biped- To walk on two feet.
Birthing- A typical werewolf birthing is less painful towards werewolf mothers but are still very uncomfortable. For a human mother birthing a werewolf pup is extremely painful and very risky as for all human pregnancies. The placenta guards the pups from infection, so Werewolf babies actually are exposed to the virus after birth during breastfeeding. The virus does not affect the pup during incubation. It will go into hibernation until a new host is found. Hybrids have anti-bodies that fight off the virus making them sterile of the virus.
Body Heat- Werewolves have hyperactive metabolisms making them hotter than humans. A werewolf's core body temperature is 103.8°F/39.9°C which a human's is 98.6°F/37.0°C. Werewolves are more comfortable in cooler climates. Males are typically warmest, which gave them an edge in surviving out in the cold harsh wilderness back in the Ice age. Werewolves usually have their dens kept at 45.0°F/7.2°C. If the female is ever cold she uses the male as a heater.

C

Caffeine- A chemical that is toxic to werewolves.
Champoeg Massacre- On December 2, 1861, during the onset of a major flood, a major offense was made upon towns along the Willamette River in retaliation for the increase in hunters in the region. The men were ambushed while lining up sandbags to protect their town from the flood. Many towns where completely destroyed and some never rebuilt.
Clan- n. A werewolf word meaning a group close-knit werewolf packs usually they have a political hierarchy. A clan can be settled or nomadic, and always has one Alpha and Elders. Werewolves began to form Clans to increase survival rate, and improve quality of life. A clan member always has another member's back.
Coyote- (Canis Latrans)- A shy creature that Werewolves are forbidden to eat; these creatures can communicate with Werewolves.
Criminals- Like humans there are werewolf criminals. Crime is relatively low due to the efficiency or fear of the Gammas. Most crimes are dealt with by community service however more severe crimes such as Murder the punishment is by death. If a werewolf creates a thrall, then the Gammas investigate and present the "evidence of circumstance" to the Betas who will reach a verdict. The Alpha determines the punishment ranging from teaching the Thrall how to be a werewolf or even death.

D

Delta-(δ) This rank is one of the newest, and is a major shift in the evolution of werewolf social hierarchy. As tactics change from brawn to brains, these smaller and weaker werewolves provide a range technical support development and research. From Computer programing to medicine, these werewolves utilize their potential to the benefit of the clan.
Den- n. A werewolf word meaning an area of residency. Closest human synonym is Home, Apartment, Condo, etc.
Dig- slang. To love and enjoy something. Humans barrowed from this during the 60’s when they experimented with drugs, the natural, and the supernatural.
Digitigrade- The orientation of an animal's hind and fore feet which makes them walk on their tip-toes. Species of animal who have this mode of locomotion are (but not limited to) Canines, Felines, and Birds.
Dog- (Canis Lupus Familiaris)- A friendly creature that Werewolves are forbidden to eat; these creatures can communicate with Werewolves.
Dog Lover- slang. A human who's open to a sexual relationship with a werewolf. Drider- (Homo Sapien Arachnida)- An ancient Babylonian cryptorace that evolved from humans with an ability to shift into Arachnid-like forms.

E

Elder-(☼) A former Alpha or Beta who has resigned. They play the role as an adviser to the active Alpha if he or she chooses. The elders play an essential role in the clan as they are highly respected because of their wisdom and their contributions to the clan.
Energy- The life-force of all living things. Energy manages a beings overall function including brain function, blood production, healing, etc. Energy is also used in werewolf transformation, which limits the amount of transformations in a certain amount of time, and the duration of maintaining a higher state.
Epsilon-(ε) This rank is the newest and is used as a placeholder for pups and newcomers whether they have migrated from another pack or they are a thrall. Epsilons are evaluated based of the merits of their natural talents and affinities. Wolves above the age of 18 see an immediate placement. However Pups are given a rank and rating, which they can improve upon before their placement is finalized. These ranks and ratings measure where a pup stands and is not used to measure what their adult potential.
Eye Sight- Werewolves have very keen vision. They have a specific tissue within their eyes called tapetum lucidum, which is located under the retina and these reflect light that missed the photoreceptor back to increase visibility at night. An average werewolf also can see a broader amount of wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum than the average human, about 250-800nm. Humans can only see wavelengths of 380-760 nm.
E=mc²- This equation is often attributed to Albert Einstein, but this equation represent the conversion of energy to mass, and vice versa. This is key to werewolf and other cryptobeing transformations.

F

Fatigue- Stress drains energy, and when a werewolf's energy begins to dwindle, their bodies start to become less efficient. Fatigue can upset the balance of a werewolf's mental state resulting in a chain reaction of the breakdown of rationality and releasing primal impulsive behavior.
Fenrir- The god killing giant Werewolf who grew continuously and brought the apocalypse. Odin tortured the pup by forcing fetters onto him, forcing a sword into his mouth propping it open, and dropping a mountain on top of him, which this was all because of him being Loki’s son. Since he could not close his mouth, his saliva formed the river Van, and whoever drank from it was cursed to become a werewolf.
Feral Side- Often referred to by some as their "wolf side", a werewolf's feral side is the many instincts and behaviors that constantly bombard one's subconscious. Natural born werewolves knows how to live in harmony with their feral side and are balanced, but most Thralls fail to acknowledge that it is there. Ignoring their feral side leaves them off balance, and it puts them in a vulnerable position, which they often exhibit symptoms of Schizophrenia and hysteria before an inevitable "wolf out". It is perfectly healthy (and recommended) for a werewolf to allow their feral side to be unleashed to satisfy their urges. This is usually done around a large group of werewolves; it can have the benefits of building a stronger bond with the clan.
Finance- Werewolves in this day and age need jobs. Some jobs a werewolf will take are in agriculture, blue collar jobs, park ranger, bus driver/light rail operator, fire fighter, police officer, and government. Werewolves usually buy second-hand clothes and hunt their own food or buy their food from discount stores such as WinCo, Costco, Grocery Outlet, etc. Surprisingly werewolves manage to save enough to create an emergency fund for the clan as a whole. This can go to help other members get a new den, clean up after a home invasion, and other financial burdens. The average income for a werewolf is around $30,000.
Food- Werewolves need more food to keep up with their exceptionally high metabolism. An average human will eat 4 lbs/1.8 kg of food per day; the average werewolf will eat 10 lbs/ 4.5 kg. A werewolf has an Omnivorous diet with a lean towards carnivore. It is not unheard of to have a werewolf eat 70 lbs/ 31.8 kg in one day. Just watch your fingers!
Fox- (Vulpes Vulpes)- A small creature Werewolves are forbidden to eat; these creatures can communicate with Werewolves.
Full moons- Werewolves absorb the maximum amount of energy at night which they become super enriched with energy; consequently, they become over stimulated with the abundance of energy and inadvertently transform. Werewolves require no sleep and little food as a result.
Fur Chaser- slang. A human with a werewolf fetish.

G

Gamma- (γ) These are highly trained werewolves their duty is to survey, guard, and police the territory. It takes years of training to become a Gamma and usually the trainee is taught by a fellow Gamma. Their techniques are a special blend of martial arts, which they use every part of their body as weapons this includes their tails. The Alpha has control over the Gammas. The youngest a werewolf can apply to be a Gamma is 18 years after a Gamma Exam.
Gamma Exams- A rigorous series of tests that are graded on physical and intellectual performance, resolve, and leadership. All scores are looked at when it comes to selecting higher ranks, special missions and positions. Gamma Exam scores are for provisional use and can be reformed after an additional score is evaluated.
Gender Role- Traditionally, males are modeled to be the hunter and protector of the pack. They place the females and the pups before themselves and will sacrifice themselves to preserve the life of their pack. Females are modeled to be the nurturer and caretaker. In the den the female is in charge. Females seldom fight because they are viewed as sacred, which their primary role is to keep the pack together. If her pack is endangered, and the male is not around, she will fight to protect her pups even to the death. Both Male and Females teach their roles to each pup respective gender. There are no restrictions for females to become an Alpha.
Genocide- The deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group. Werewolves now these days have been living in fear of being hunted and killed because of what they are. In the same sense their population is threatened, their culture is at risk of dying off as well. As the human population expands their rights to transform outside their den and their food source become more restricted. Some groups of werewolves have grown aware of this fact, and they decide to perform population control. Periodically mass culling of humans has occurred when food has been scarce. Humans and Werewolves have had strong competition in the past, and my never stop killing each other in the future.

H

HBC- Acronym. (H)udson’s (B)ay (C)ompany- A fur trade company founded in 1670. They operated in an area known as Rupert’s Land, whose boundaries were confined to the Hudson Bay Watershed, which werewolves were hired as fur trappers due to their high productivity with little need for supplies. The company gained a large profit, and through mergers, the company’s annexed west including Oregon Country. They spent great efforts to have their employees discourage Missionaries and American Emigrants from settling onto their land. They increased the densities of their werewolves in the Pacific Northwest, which their orders was to overhunt, cause chaos and confusion, vandalize, and create hardship. Many vestiges of their campaign remain in the Pacific Northwest today.
Hearing- Like in many creatures hormones takes part in a lot of werewolf life.
Human- (Homo Sapien Sapien)- A Race that werewolves are forbidden to eat; these creatures can communicate with Werewolves, some werewolves still do eat humans anyway. Humans can interbreed with Werewolves as well as become Werewolves themselves. This is also the base form werewolves and other cryptoraces may take. They are identical to humans and are hard to pick out from a true human.
Hunters- n. A werewolf word meaning a group of humans whose intention is to kill a werewolf or cryptorace for either to establish dominance, a vendetta, a bounty, or for amusement. There are many small groups of hunters who use anything they can get their hands on (Most commonly referred to as a SOL Hunter by Gammas), but there are some mainstream hunters like the Van Helsing or DeFang, which these hunters have highly advanced weaponry and training to kill werewolves as well as a large amount of funds. Like most genocides, Hunters believe that werewolves are an abomination and impure, thus needing to be exterminated. Most hunters recruit by feeding the feeble minded many stereotypes and generalize werewolves as monsters.
Hybrid- A being created by the procreation of two different species. Werewolf/Humans are the most common Hybrid, and they are weaker than their full blooded Werewolf brethren but have higher tolerances to things most deadly to a full blooded werewolf. They are also sterile or do not carry the virus. Hybrids are also known as "Therianthrobes" or "Otherkin" and can experience Phantom limb due to a spiritual transformation. If a hybrid and another hybrid mate they have a 25% chance to create a full blood werewolf, 25% chance create a full blooded Human, and a 50% chance of creating a Hybrid. The werewolf offspring of a hybrid will live a sad and confusing life unless he or she comes into contact with fellow werewolves. Research has gone into genetically modify the Lycanthropy virus to make it more aggressive.
Hybrid Lycanthropy Virus- A genetically modified mutated version of the Lycanthropy virus. The new virus can be contracted from a Thrall hybrid (New Age Werewolf).
Hybrid Thrall (New Age Thrall)- A Thrall that has contracted the Hybrid lycanthropy virus. Hybrid thralls are much stronger than ordinary thralls (Old Age Thrall), and are typically in more control. A major disadvantage is Hybrid thralls require more food, and they cannot fast as long as Thralls.

I

J

Jötunn Gene- Named after the mythological Nordic beings, this is a dominant gene that appears only in noble werewolves, which it enables gigantism and myostatin deficiency resulting in massive muscle growth. 0.01% of the werewolf population has this gene, and it only be inherited through sexual reproduction.

K

Kiss of the Werewolf- A specific type of ceremony in, which werewolf converts his or her human lover into a werewolf. The ceremony is done by inflicting a wound on the subject before the werewolf licks the subject's wound. The wound takes seconds to heal, but the subject instantly contracts the virus. This way of converting a human is preferred by many werewolves due to having more meaning and intimacy than a simple bite. After the subject has been infected, the werewolf will take time to comfort, console, and help prepare the newly created thrall to changes in his or her body will undergo. Human women are most likely to be converted than a human man, which this is mostly due to how a werewolf and human females tend to enjoy a dominant mate.

L

Lair- n. A werewolf word meaning an area of sanctuary. Closest human synonym is Bedroom. A traditional werewolf bed is a custom bed larger than a King size, animal pelt sheeting, and thick blankets.
Loki- The god of mischief in Nordic mythology who is said to have fathered the first werewolf—Fenrir. His attributes brought werewolves their ability to shapeshift and intelligence, but also their rage and playfulness. He also fathered the first Naga—Jörmungandr, and the Queen of the underworld—Hel.
Lunar Radiation- This is an electromagnetic wave that is reflected from the moon's surface due to its albedo. The wavelengths are mostly in the infrared spectrum, which this brings more visible light for werewolves to hunt at night.
Lycanin-1a is a hormone that is produced to increase Osteoblasts, hair growth, muscle hypertrophy, and organ hypertrophy, which this hormone is produced during the transformation towards wolf form.
Lycanin-1b is produced during the transformation from wolf form, this increases Osteoclasts, hair loss, muscle hypotrophy, and organ hypotrophy.
Lycanin-1c is a hormone that increases bone, muscle fiber, and nail density, and triggers lupine hair growth in human form.
Lycanin-1d helps with accelerating healing and slowing of aging. This is produced after puberty. Testosterone is exceptionally high in werewolf males, likewise for Estrogen in werewolf females. In conjunction with this hormone, Lycanin-1c, and with other sex hormones, puberty can be very scary for werewolves especially, which typically loss of sense of strength will occur as werewolf portion of DNA manifests itself in the host. A more miserable occurrence happens when a human adult contracts the werewolf pathogen, as it essentially has a 2nd puberty effect but is crammed within a few hours instead of a couple years.
Lycaon- A Latin based word meaning Wolf. This is the 4th form and believed to be the final form werewolves may take. The physical characteristics that it differs from the 3rd form are: they are slimmer, lighter, cannot speak coherently, have actual paws, and are essentially pure wolf in structure. Some similarities from 3rd and 4th form are: Digitigrade, Quadrupedal, Ears are positioned on top of head instead of on side, Have a tail, have a canine-like shaped face including a muzzle, hair color are wolf-like, and have wolf ears. Lycaon is the most uncontrollable form werewolves can take due to the method of tapping in all of the feral side. The Benefits to this form is significant speed and endurance, which it is primarily used for transportation and traveling great distances.
Lycanthrobe- The condition where the inflicted is no longer human because of the mutation to the DNA of the virus's host's. There is no cure for this without killing the inflicted.
Lycanthropy Virus- A virus werewolves harbor which can be transmitted to humans. The virus is symbiotic and is contracted through body fluids. There is no known vaccine against this virus. The virus lies dormant in a werewolf until it is introduced to a new host. After all the cells have been exploited, the virus will go back into dormancy.
Lycanthropy- The symptoms of the virus. Symptoms come in 5 stages Infection, Mutation, Transition, Manifestation, and Transformation. The progress of the virus comes in stages; the first is when the virus attacks every cell in the victim's body resulting in flu like symptoms. The second stage is internal changes when organs change in proportion including the brain for example the Amygdala enlarges resulting in increased aggression and irritability. This is when the feral side begins to develop. The third stage will have external changes occur as hormones start to spike resulting in more body hair and muscle growth. The body is constantly sore as the transition becomes complete. The fourth stage is when the feral side matures and begins making its presence known. It sends vivid images of the person being a wolf or doing wolf-like things, and they can be very intense on some occasions. The fifth stage is when the body first breaks into its werewolf form. It is very painful the first couple of times, but they soon acclimate to the sensations. There are few treatments for the symptoms.

M

Mate- A werewolf homonym with two major connotations. n. This word refers to a significant other such as boyfriend/girlfriend, Fiancé/Fiancée, Husband/Wife, Partners, etc.; Werewolves have a loose definition of such, which the pairing does not need to be explicit for the clan to consider the pair to be actual mates. v. To have sexual intercourse. The difference between noun and verb is purely contextual. It is not a taboo for Werewolves to disclose information about their love life in a conversation. An average adult werewolf will mate 535.5 times in a year. Most cases the encounters are spontaneous, but only done with a particular partner. The average age for both male and female first encounter is 16. The belief for coitus goes beyond procreation, but it builds a stronger and/or reinforces an emotional attachment, a productive way to relieve negative stress, and settles the primal urges. Single werewolves are very keen on using contraception; luckily a partner will step up if an unintended pregnancy occurs.
Merfolk- (Homo Sapien Pisces)- An ancient Polynesian cryptorace that evolved from humans with an ability to shift into fish-like forms. They are the most successful cryptorace over all. Some sub-groups can live in any salinity except brine water. Merfolk are omnivores, but they lean towards a piscivore diet.
Minotaur- (Homo Sapien Bonvus)- An ancient Minoan Cryptorace that evolved from humans with the ability to shift into Bovine-like forms. Minotaur is strictly herbivores, and they have 4 chambered stomachs even in base form.
Music- Just like of cultures werewolves have a unique taste in music. Traditional Werewolf music has been influenced by polyrhythmic drum beats of and harmonious chanting from Native Americans. Most vocalists extends notes to resemble howls, and add a tribal feel with a mostly Percussion instruments. When lyrics are involved it usually is to invoke werewolf pride and include protests of being transparent in the human population and loss of rights with being in wolf form and hunting. Wind Instruments will be used when a song is meant to be peaceful and/or mournful.

N

Naga- (Homo Sapien Serpentes)- An ancient indo-china cryptorace that evolved from humans with an ability to shift into snake-like forms. Nagas are strictly carnivores, and they love to bathe in the sun even in base form.
New Moons- Werewolves absorb the minimum amount of energy at night which they become deprived of energy; consequently, they become exhausted with the lack of energy and can rarely transform. Naturally werewolves require more food on and a lot of rest as a on these nights.
Nobles- The descendants of the original werewolf, and they are viewed as the purest of them all. They have the largest energy capacity and are significantly larger than other werewolves. Nobles have declined in population mainly because of genocides in Europe. There are fewer than 200 Nobles in the world today, and they continue to be hunted after due to their novelty.

O

Okami- A Japanese homophone for meaning Wolf or Great God. This is a 5th and newly discovered form a werewolf could possibly take. The physical characteristics that the 5th form differs from the 4th are: Bipedal, can speak coherently, no muzzle, human face, human sized, is plantigrade, opposable thumbs, and fur covers entire body except for chest, hands, feet, face, and neck; Their head has silver human hair instead of wolf fur. The similarities from the 4th and 5th forms are they have Ears are positioned on top of head instead of on side, Have a tail, hair color are wolf-like, and have wolf ears. Okami is the most unstable form a werewolf may take, thus require the most energy to maintain; however, the benefits keep the werewolf compact and able to dawn bullet proof armor, operate ammunition, and increased mobility.
Omega-(Ω) An Omega weak and helpless werewolves. Most commonly they are Thralls. This term is extremely offensive and rude.
Operation Hamburger Meat- During WWII, SAD recruited, trained, and armed a band of werewolf mercenaries to infiltrate, rescue alias, and destroy Nazi Laboratories partaking in super soldier experiments with the Niederdeutsche werewolf clans. The operation was a great success and swayed the war in favor of the allied forces.
Oregon Country- A section of the Columbia Department—between latitudes 42° and 54°40’—under territorial dispute between the Americans and the British from 1812 to 1846. Werewolves wanted the land to become an independent nation and nearly succeeded in 1842. The Oregon treaty was signed in 1846, and HBC pulled all operations south of 49° latitude. The werewolves stayed and continued to fight off human settlers, and the wounds of failing to become an independent nation are still raw with most of the werewolves in this region.
Overpopulation- As the human population continues to grow out of control, the amount of food and resources decrease rapidly. This has led to many species to die off due to the loss of habitat and food both through direct and indirect human activity. Some werewolves question if their 'humans are not food' ideals have been flawed, and they will sway to population control as a way to bring balance to Nature. Other werewolves believe that soon there will be technological breakthrough that will make terraforming other Planets and Moons economically feasible and practical.

P

Pack n. A werewolf word meaning a werewolf family that lives the same den. A pack can have single parent, grandparents, step-children, half-children, adopted children, pets, etc. The average werewolf pack has 7 members excluding pets. Older members of a pack will hunt for the whole pack, and most commonly other packs will hunt together.
Personality Attraction- When a werewolf reaches adulthood they look for certain personality traits. The most common trait males go for is benevolent, tranquil, and adventurous. The most common trait females go for firm, understanding, and dominant.
Phantom Limb- A neurological medical condition where the sufferer experiences and feels extremities which are not there such as a Tail, Animal ears, Wings, etc. This brings a huge anxiety towards the sufferer especially when he or she is out in public.
Physical Attraction- In werewolf evolution there is a certain body type male and female werewolves prefer. A lot of preferences parallel with humans, but there are some contrasts. Males typically go for average and chubby (not obese) females, which the reasoning is around child bearing. Skinniness is deters males because it shows the female's lack of proper nourishment which childbearing would prove fatal. Obesity is also a deterrent because it shows a high likelihood of complications. Females typically go for the in-shape/well-built and large type of male, which their reasoning is around Child rearing. Females look for a male that can provide for her and her potential pack and protect them as well as it shows a lack of crippling defects that the child may inherit.
Plantigrade- The orientation of an animal's hind feet which makes them walk on their metatarsus (feet). Humans are Plantigrade.
Prime- n. A werewolf word meaning a fully grown werewolf or at breeding age. Closest human synonym is an Adult. Growth rate quickly diminishes during this stage.
Pregnancy- A typical Werewolf pregnancy lasts 12 months and has Quadrimesters. The fetus does not transform at will until the 4th Quadrimester. Usually a mother will gain 40 lbs/ 18.1 kg during her pregnancy. A human mother will crave food constantly and will produce more body hair, and behave in a less civil manner.
Pseudolycanthropy- A psychiatric medical condition where the sufferer experience feel and believe like they are transforming into a werewolf while no physical transformation is present.
Pup- n. A werewolf word meaning a non-full grown werewolf. Closest human synonym is an Infant, Toddler, Teenager, Kid, etc. Pups usually sleep in the same bed as their parents until they are around 3 years of age. Werewolves view that raising a pup is not just the parents' duty, but the clan's as well. In a werewolf pack with older pups, the older pups will look after the younger pups to give the parents a break.
PEAS- Acronym. (P)up (E)valuation & (A)ptitude (S)core- This is a clan wide rank and rating system used to motivate and standardize the abilities of all prospective werewolves. Rankings begin at Delta and go up to Alpha, and ratings are from 1 to 10 and are a base ten logarithmic in function and not linear meaning that the difference between a 1 and 3 is 100 times and not 2 times. These scores can be given as early as the age of three and they are updated regularly. Scores can also be adjusted to a standardized test that is administered three times during the summer, which they are a series of physical and logic based tests. If a feat is determined to be done that is well beyond the limits—past 1 standard deviation—of their score, it must be adjusted to reflect it. This provides incentive for pups to challenge stronger and more adept werewolves to a duel; moreover, if a pup is suspected of skewing their results, pack mates can collude a simulation of a life and death situation to push the pup to their true limit; conversely, if a pup is suspected of cheating or falsifying their claims to a successful duel, pack mates can include a simulation of a threat relative to the score of the pup in question. If the pup does not perform up to par or exceeds it—±1 standard deviation—the scores will be adjusted.

Q

Quadruped- The ability to walk on all fours.

R

Ragnarok- Slang. It is a declaration of war against humans and/or genocide. This is spurred from the tale of when Fenrir breaks free from his fetters, and he will go on a rampage and kill everything including Odin. This calamity will bring fire, floods, earthquakes, and darkness to the world leaving it in ruins. The result of this event is a new world order.

S

SAD- Acronym.- (S)upernatural (AD)ministration- This is a Top secret US government agency developed by President Theodore Roosevelt. Their main objective is to Secure, Protect, and, Contain the supernatural community and be a part of keeping humans unaware of their existence. SAD takes a hands-off approach and respects the community’s autonomy and their laws.
SAM- Acronym.- (S)upernatural (A)ffairs (M)inistry- This is a Top secret UK government department developed by King Charles II. Their main objective was to ensure that werewolf employees did not lead a revolt against the Hudson’s Bay Company, but they quickly took hands-on approach with upholding Law and order with their own regulations. Regulations were initially declared by the crown, but later relegated to a roundtable discussion with the Prime Minister, Prominent leaders of the Supernatural Community, and Members of the House of Lords with proper “Over the Top Secret” security clearance.
Scat- vulgar slang. The excrement of a carnivore.
Schooling- Like other humans, werewolves have to attend school, but they also have a special kind of curriculum (Usually taught in the summer), which the primary focus is teaching werewolf history, werewolf political science, werewolf mythology, werewolf terminology, werewolf morphology, werewolf physiology, werewolf & human psychology, how to blend in with the human population, Werewolf P.E., and prepare for the Gamma exams. Usually they are taught after Kindergarten, and graduate after the 8th grade.
Sensory Adaptation- A neurological phenomenon where an individual can negate a given constant or repetitive stimuli. Pain from Transformations will diminish to the point of tolerance or vanish completely. Senses can also become "Selective" as the stimuli are received but not perceived.
Sensory Overload- A neurological medical condition where the sufferer experiences a bombardment of stimuli that effect one or many senses. This can interfere with the cognitive function. Some cases it can be very painful for Thralls due to the sudden sensory enhancement. Pure blooded werewolves may also suffer from this which the severity can vary from disorientation to illness.
Sire- A Middle English word meaning ruler, or also a werewolf that has converted a human (Willingly or forcefully) into a werewolf.
Sleep- Werewolves need more sleep than a human, this is simply humans consume less energy than a werewolf. The ratio of energy produced and energy consumed by a human during sleep is 3:1, whereas a werewolf's is 3:2.
Stimuli- Werewolves have a certain idiosyncrasy to stimuli that makes them similar to canines instead of humans. These quirks even manifest itself in human form. Most werewolves repress these habits because it will make them stand out, and only on an intimate level would they let them occur unrestrained. The benefits of these stimuli help with relieving stress and balancing their feral side.
Supermoon- A celestial event that occurs when the full moon happens during the perigee (closest distance relative to Earth). This does not suggest that this event spawn Super werewolves, but due to the increased light intensity, werewolves do experience boost in power. The extent of the power up and duration depends on the timing of the two events. Supermoons will encourage mating and enhance fertility.
Supernatural Fan- slang. A human who's fascinated and obsessive with all things that go bump in the night.

T

Terraforming- A process of deliberately modifying a planet, moon, or other heavenly body's atmosphere, temperature, surface topography or ecology to be similar to the biosphere of Earth, in order to make it habitable by humans and earthly organisms. Research into transforming other planets, moons, asteroids, and dwarf planets have been a primary focus as more stress is put on Earth's resources as human population climb's past 8 billion people by 2030. Famines, Pandemics, and War's over natural resources (i.e. fresh water and land) occur more and more between nations. Human technology is very close in making a milestone with creating a new home on a new planet (i.e. Mars, Venus, and/or the moon). Effects of living on another planet can have its drawbacks. The effects of decreased gravity on organisms will be complex depend on where the birth or home planet of the organism. Organisms born on earth will appear to have super powers on worlds such as Mars and the moon, but on Venus you would perform very close as you would on Earth. If you were to have originated from Mars or the Moon and visited Earth, you would appear to be frail as it would be as if an Earthling were to be on Jupiter. Some would speculate that you would be taller but with weaker muscles and less bone density. It would be very difficult to move if not break bone if you collapsed from the immense gravity. The best planet suitable but most difficult to form a new home would be Venus. The benefits outweigh the draw backs as our planet draws close to no longer supporting growth.

The similarities from the 2nd and 3rd forms are they have opposable thumbs, claws, fangs, and yellow or golden eyes. Therian is the largest form a werewolf may take. The Benefits to this form is its greatly enhanced strength and durability. For some, this form gets very bulky and inhibits mobility and makes them easier targets. This is typically used for intimidation and overpowering your opponent.
Therianthrobes- Humans that have strong spiritual bonds to a certain animal. They are descendants of a certain cryptorace. A Therianthrobe who has ties with a wolf would have a werewolf as an ancestor. One with ties to a snake would have a Naga for an ancestor. Thrall- An Old Norse based word meaning Slave, or also a Werewolf that was not one at birth. A lot of werewolf clans have strict rules about Thralls. Most do not like thralls, and they are killed because of their Lord's incompetence to train them to control their feral side.
Thrall Hybrid- It occurs when a Human female pregnant with a Werewolf/Human hybrid is infected by the Lycanthrobe virus. The virus during the active phase is so numerous that it overwhelms the placenta and will attack the fetus; consequently, Werewolf/Human/Thralls are almost unheard of because the transition produces too much stress on the fetus, and the female almost always has a miscarriage. Werewolf/Human/Thralls are significantly stronger than full blooded werewolves.
Transformations- A transformed state requires energy to morph and maintain. Each advanced state requires more energy and concentration. Some werewolves can manipulate a specific body part to transform; however, these modifications do not last for very long.
Transition- A period were a Thrall goes through the discovery of their new werewolf powers and their wolf side. This is the most confusing and vulnerable time in a thrall's life. A Pure bred werewolf does not experience a transition period.

Zeta-(ζ) This officially is the lowest rank that is given to lone wolves and outlaws. This rank does not denote to a wolf’s strength, but as a means to point out a wolf who does not abide by local laws nor do they contribute in any way that benefits the clan. These wolves drain resources and are put under close watch while within the territory. The wolves can have their strength and intelligence compared to a ranking and rating in relation to the clan’s own standards.
I created a little Fact sheet about the werewolves in my book. omuyasha.deviantart.com/galler…

I have added many more topics and revised others.

I got the place holder pic from damalia.deviantart.com/art/Bri… mine is not as good.
